ATS and TTS “Classification”, “Types”, and Maintenance and User-Defined Fields
Question: When designating a “new” Classification, or Type, from in the “Classification” and “Type” fields in the ATS (Asset Information) or TTS (Tool Information) functions, no Maintenance or User-Defined fields are added. Why not?
Answer: Maintenance is tied to the TYPE, not the CLASSIFICATION. The same with User Defined fields. Both are TYPE specific. Adding a ‘new’ classification or type from the Asset Information or Tool Information functions ONLY adds the new class and/or type.
If additional details need to be included for a certain “Classification/Type” combination, these will need to be entered directly from the Asset or Tool ADMINISTRATION function located under the SUPPORT Text Tab.
The reason is to maximize flexibility in how Classes and Types are structured. A Class can cover a large segment of equipment:
Class: Test Equipment
Types: Digital Volt Meter
Thermal Imager
Gas Sniffer
Etc.
User define fields could be different for each type. Maintenance could be common or different depending on the tool type.
