Self-Hosted Mobile App Transition Guide

IMPORTANT – READ BEFORE TRANSITIONING

DO NOT transition to the new mobile app if you currently use Manual Batch Mode or Kiosk Mode.

The new mobile app does not support:

  • Manual Batch Mode
  • Kiosk Mode

If your organization relies on either of these features, you should continue using the existing mobile application.
Before beginning the transition, you will need:

  • Your Web-Service URL
  • Your PIN Number
  • An available mobile app license

Overview
If you choose to begin using our new mobile app, you will need to transfer your existing app license from the current app to the new one. This ensures your license is properly assigned and prevents duplicate usage.

Important Notes

  • Your existing app will continue to work unless you choose to switch.
  • A single app license can only be active on one device/app at a time.
  • Transferring your license is quick and only takes a few steps.
  • The Device and Web Service must already be installed and configured.
  • You will need your Web-Service URL and PIN Number to complete setup.

Step 1: Inactivate License on Current App
Before activating the new app, you must release your license from the current app.

  1. Login to the PC interface of the system as the ADMIN (Only Admin profile has access to do this)
  2. Navigate to File → Device Administration
  3. Make note of your Pin Number
  4. Find your device listed in the grid and highlight it by clicking on it
  5. Press “Deactivate” (you should see the number of available licenses increase by 1)

✅ This step frees up your license so it can be used on the new app.

Step 2: Install the New App

  1. Download the new app from your device’s app store. It is labeled as just “GigaTrak”.
  2. Install and open the app on your device

Step 3: Register Your License on the New App

  1. Launch the new mobile app
  2. Select “Yes, I’m an existing user”.
  3. Choose ‘On-Premise Solution’.
  4. Choose Live Database mode (or wireless batch if you are batch syncing once you enter WIFI)
  5. Turn ON ‘Photo Viewer’ and turn ON ‘in-app barcode scanner’ if you are using a regular cell phone or tablet’s camera to scan barcodes. If you have a built-in scanner, turn this setting off. Select Continue.
  6. In the first field, enter your Web-Service URL. If you do not know it, open up the old GigaTrak TTS App. In the options page, under Connection Settings, make note of the web-service listed. Type in the web-service URL without the leading ‘http’. Use the drop-down menu next to the field to select “HTTP” or “HTTPS”. DO NOT INCLUDE the ‘mobile.asmx’ in the URL.
  7. Name your device. Example: Amanda’s Phone or Office Scanner.
  8. Turn on toggle for Pin. Enter pin listed on the Device Administration page of the PC Interface. (Note: If you register the device WITHOUT the pin, you will need to Activate the device on the PC interface under File→Device Administration and then Verify it on the app).
  9. Press “Connect”.
  10. Press “Complete Setup”.

Verification
Once completed:

  • You should have full access to the new app
  • Your license will now be tied to the new app
  • The old app will no longer have access unless reactivated (Both application could be used on the same device but this would require utilizing two app licenses).

Troubleshooting
If you run into any issues:

  • Ensure the license has been fully deactivated from the old app
  • Double-check available licenses under File-Device Administration (must be logged in as the ADMIN)
  • If you do not know the ADMIN login for the PC, please call GigaTrak below to be given a temporary code.
