Handheld terminal doesn’t seem to respond to a carriage return entry
Question: I’ve noticed that my Intermec terminal doesn’t respond consistently when the carriage return key is depressed or a barcode is scanned.
Answer: Verify the suffix “\x0D” is properly set in the terminal configuration / barcode utility.
To do this, go to the GigaTrak Client Center to download the configuration doc:
Under the Hardware heading, Select Handhelds
Under the Handheld section, Select Intermec
Under Handheld User Documentation,
Select the appropriate terminal model
Follow the directions to enable to suffix in the document section:
Append Carriage Return to Barcode Scan
If this doesn’t resolve the issue, the unit may be running an older version of Windows OS that responds differently to the carriage return than newer versions. Some older models of CK3 and CK71 terminals may exhibit this behavior.
This scenario can be addressed by: 1) upgrading the app to CF 3.5, or 2) using a custom configuration file for the Intermec Virtual Wedge.
Simplest – Selection 2: From the GigaTrak Client Center, download the config file:
Under the Hardware heading, Select Handhelds
Under the Handheld section, Select Intermec
Under Handheld User Documentation, Select VW Configuration file
Download this file to your workstation.
Unzip and copy the VWconfig.ini file to the \Windows folder on the
Intermec device.
Reboot the device.
